Pretty In Pink.....for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Well, I polished my nails with my new Revlon Nail Enamel in color #271 Extravagant that I previously wrote about in the following post:  http://thehouseofdiva.blogspot.com/2012/10/revlon-nail-enamels.html

I was looking for a pink color to use in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I would like to show my support of all of the survivors, lost loved ones and their family & friends in any way that I can.  I know this is a small way of doing so, but I think any support is better than none. The pictures that I have posted look a little purple, but it is pink. In my opinion, it is bright and stands out in a crowd. I really like the color and have had a lot of compliments on it so far and I have only been wearing it for a couple of days.

While polishing my nails, I noticed that it was kind of thick.  When you put it on, you have to make sure that you do not put too much on the brush because it will make a blob on your nail and at that point, there is probably too much to spread evenly without streaks.  It will make for a very thick coat, and will take a long time to dry.  That is what happened to me the first time around.  That was a bit disappointing, but I polished my nails all over again, and the second time was much better.  I did it pretty fast, and that is why they look a bit sloppy, but if you take your time, then I'm sure your nails will look marvelous!

My verdict on this particular brand and color is that it is nice, and I will wear the color again.  It is on the thick side and I will remember that when I use it again in the future so I won't make a big mess of my nails.  Revlon has a great selection of other colors, so please visit their website to see all of the colors available.

Newest Bath and Body Works Haul

Bath and Body Works has started selling new items for the 2012 Winter/Christmas season.  I was in the store to return something, but I couldn't leave without purchasing a couple of the new items they had available.  I purchased two full sized Twisted Peppermint hand sanitizers ($5.00 each).  I stumbled upon these towards the back of the store.  They were on the shelf with all of the other full sized hand sanitizers, but these were pushed back almost out of site.  Twisted Peppermint is a favorite of Bath and Body Works fans, so I'm sure once these are discovered by the masses, they will go really fast!  I also bought the new limited edition Aromatherapy Sleep - Honey Vanilla Dream body wash and body lotion.  In my opinion, these are amazing.  I actually used them last night for the first time, and it was really relaxing.  I believe in aromatherapy!  For purchasing the two fullsized hand sanitizers for $5.00 each, I got the new Aromatherapy Stress Relief - Eucalyptus Tea body wash for free with a coupon (spend $10 and get free body care item up to $13).  I'm still on the fence with this one, but I'm going to give it a try.  The last items that I purchased were two nail files for $1.00 each.

Organix Nutritional Acai Berry Avocado Hair Products

Well, I was out and about again.  I wasn't at the store to buy more shampoo and conditioner, but when I saw the Organix Nutritional Acai Berry Avocado shampoo and conditioner, I had to buy it.  I smelled the conditioner a couple of weeks ago and really loved it, but they didn't have the shampoo so I passed.  Since the store had both the shampoo and the conditioner this time, I wasn't going to pass it up.  There was not an in-store coupon this time, so I paid a little over $5.00 for each one.  Here are a few highlights about the Nutritional Acai Berry Avocado shampoo and conditioner from the Organix website:
  • A sensual and exotic botanical infusion of vitamin and antioxidant rich acai berry extracts and avocado proteins to nourish, re-energize, and enrich your hair along with argan oil for moisture, shine and balance.  It is safe for color treated and all hair types.
  • An exotic nutrient luxurious blend of antioxidant rich acai berry extract and guava to instantly nourish and enrich your hair while avocado proteins add nutrition and balance along with Moroccan argan oil to moisturize your tresses and create a shiny, smooth, frizz-free finish.
This scent is definitely a winner in my book!  I loved the smell and the lather that I got when I was shampooing my hair.  The conditioner really smoothed my hair out and it was a whole lot less frizzy than before using it.  I will definitely buy this one again.  So far, all of the Organix brand shampoos and conditioners that I have purchased and used have impressed me.  I will continue to recommend to others.

Revlon Nail Enamels

Tonight, I was at the store and wanted to try to find a new nail polish by OPI.  The color I was looking for was "Every Month is Oktoberfest", but it was no where to be found.  They had just about every other color.  So, I will have to see if I can find it at another store.  I was told I could find it on Ebay, but I will keep looking at the stores around me before ordering from online.

So, since I could not find what I was looking for, I decided to keep looking at different brands and colors.  Well, I came across the Nail Enamel section of Revlon polishes, and there were coupons for $2.00 off a bottle right in front of the display.  As stated on their website, Revlon® Nail Enamel delivers gorgeous smooth, chip-resistant color to nails.  There was a big selection of colors to choose from in the Revlon collection that it was hard to choose.  I tried several colors on my nails before deciding on #330 Naughty and #271 Extravagant.  These two colors just caught my eye for some reason.  The purple gray #330 Naughty was very nice, and I think it would go good with a lot of clothes in my wardrobe.  I was looking for a pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and came across #271 Extravagant.  There were plenty of pink colored nail polish, but I really liked the way this dried on the one nail I that I test polished.

The description from the website:
  • Revlon Nail Enamel gives up to 10 days of lasting color & shine*. Revlon's exclusive silk-protein shield works to instantly help even out the surface of the nail while rising above color to automatically smooth away bubbles, streaks and brush marks.
  • Available in 72 shades
  • *when worn with Revlon Base and Top Coat.

I have not had a chance to polish my nails in either one of these colors (I only tested one nail in each color while at the store), yet, but when I do I will post pictures so you can see how pretty they are!  Hopefully, it will be real soon!

More Cute Things

I forgot to post a couple of other cute, new items from Bath and Body Works.  There are so many new and cute items, it is easy to overlook some.  Here are two of them:
  • A very cute, Diamond jewel soap topper.
  • Cute little cream colored bag with bling on them.  The bag contains travel sized Cashmere Glow items (lotion, shower gel, fragrance mist and a lip gloss (forgot the flavor, but it isn't called Cashmere Glow.  The bag was priced $25, but I hear it is soon going to be a purchase with purchase.  It will be $12.50 with a purchase of any Cashmere Glow item (not sure on the date this will happen).

  • Please visit the Bath and Body Works website for more information and prices of their products.

Some new Winter products from Bath and Body Works

I have not posted anything recently that I have bought at Bath and Body Works, so I decided to post just a couple of things.  The Winter shopping season is upon us and Fall barely started.  Bath and Body Works is always a season ahead!  This Fall is no different because on Monday, October 8, 2012, Bath and Body Works will officially (I say officially because a lot of stores are already putting Winter stuff out) begins selling their Winter products and all of the wonderful Christmas items.  All of the Fall 2012 products will be going away on October 29, 2012.  That seems kind of early to me, but I guess they have to make room for even more new, Winter products at that time.

The first new item I bought were the new for Winter, 'Tis The Coziest Shea Infused socks.  These are very nice and comfy!  They were only $12.50 each.  I really really like these!

I also purchased some really pretty, new, blinged out pumps for the lotions and shower gels.  These caught my eye as soon as I went in the store.  They were displayed with the Cashmere Glow items.  I don't particularly care for Cashmere Glow, but a lot of people do and these pumps go perfectly with that line (they go with other packaging, too)!  These were $3.50 each.

Next, they have a new, pretty, sparkly bottle of soap.  It comes in 3 new scent Kitchen Lemon, Citrus Garland and Cranberry Tangerine.  I got the Kitchen Lemon.  It smells really great!  These are $12.00 each.

They also had a couple of new Concentrated Room Sprays (CRS) in Winter and Frosted Cranberry.  I decided to purchase these since they smelled pretty good.  The didn't have the home fragrance oils (HFO) out, yet to match, but they will be coming.  They did have Fresh Balsam HFO so I decided to purchase that since it is my son's favorite Winter scent!  The Frosted Cranberry CRS smells really good and has a sweet scent.  It lasted pretty long when I used it in my home for the first time.  I will buy more of this scent in the future.  Both the Concentrated Room Sprays and Home Fragrance Oils are $5.00 each.

They also had one new Christmas/Winter, regular hand soap and pocketbac out.  The scent they had was Winter Cranberry.  This scent smells really great and I will be picking up some more as soon as I make it back to the store.  The soaps are $5.50 each or 4 for $15 and 6 for $20.  The pocketbacs were $1.50 each or 5 for $5.00.

This is just a preview of what I purchased, but there will surely be A LOT more to come especially after Monday, October 8, 20012.  I will keep you all posted!

Organix Hydrating Macadamia Oil Hair Products

So, I bought another scent of the Organix brand shampoo and conditioner.  This time I wanted to give the Hydrating Macadamia Oil Shampoo and Conditioner a try.  I read good things about it, and they hold true.  I bought these with a coupon again that was for $2.00 off regular price.  The price is a little over $5.00 each, so once again, I thought it was a good deal to get each bottle for around $3.00.  Here are a few highlights about the Hydrating Macadamia Oil Shampoo and Conditioner from the Organix website:
  • Drench your strands in an ultra-moisturizing luxurious formula infused with nutrient rich macadamia oil to instantly hydrate and smooth parched, dry hair while exotic sugar cane extract and bamboo extract soften and mend split ends for a luscious, vibrant mane with brilliant shine.  This is safe for color treated hair and all types of hair.
  • This totally indulgent shampoo and luxurious conditioner drenches even the driest, most brittle hair with moisture, leaving it soft, supple, and touchable with a fusion of gentle conditioning macadamia oil and moisturizing bamboo extract, while sugar cane extract gives hair silky new life.
I will definitely buy this again.  I could tell the difference in my hair after only a couple of shampoos.  The Organix brand is truly a great product that I recommend to others!
