I received the NYC New York Color Liquid Lipshine from Influenster for being a "Brand Challenge" winner for the 2012 Latina VoxBox that was sent to me by Influenster (www.Influenster.com). The product was complimentary to test and review. To use the Liquid Lip Shine, take the tip of the applicator to line and define lips. Once you have done that, fill your lips in with the color. It is a very easy to use product. I personally liked the applicator since it is a wand. The Liquid Lip Shine is not goopy and sticky like some others I have used. It goes on very nicely leaving your lips very soft and with plenty of shine. I used this all alone and on top of a colored lipstick with great results. In my experience, it lasted for a long time, and I didn't have to keep reapplying it over and over. The shade that I received was City's Clear (574). This color was is just a standard clear gloss and will go with anyone's skin tone.  It is very shinny, so if you don't want a lot of shine, then you might only want to use just a dab or opt for another gloss altogether.  I personally like some shinny gloss every now and then.  The only thing that would have made me like it even more is if it was flavored. I absolutely love flavored and scented glosses.

The package that I received contained one 0.24 fl oz Liquid Lip Shine and it had a great price point. The suggested retail price is $2.49. You can't beat a great Liquid Lip Shine Lip Gloss for under $2.50. I wish more drugstore type of brands were on point with their prices. I thank NYC New York Color for thinking about those that are on a budget or those that simply do not want to pay over $10 for a lipgloss.

I received the Head & Shoulders Damage Rescue Shampoo and Conditioner that was sent to me by Influenster (www.Influenster.com) over a week ago. The product was complimentary to test and review.  I wanted to use it several times before writing a review on it.  The product information/review page on the Influenster website states that - The Head & Shoulders Damage Rescue system was developed specifically to nurture scalp and dry/damaged hair with intensive care, leaving hair up to 10X Stronger in Just Four Washes. I have used this shampoo and conditioner for over a week.  The shampoo lathers up nicely and makes my hair feel really clean and soft.  My hair is really dry and brittle sometimes, but after using the conditioner, my hair looks healthier and does not feel as dry.  The conditioner seems to really do it's job and really rescues my hair from the damage it has already endured and is preventing it from further damage.  I would recommend this shampoo and conditioner to all of those that feel they could benefit from some damage rescue!  I will letting all of my friends and family know about these two new wonderful products from Head & Shoulders!

Dino Lingo - Language learning programs for kids

I have not really posted any family entries in this blog, but I came across a wonderful program for kids.  My son and I recently watched a clip from the following Dino Lingo (language learning program for kids) video in Spanish.  We viewed this clip complimentary through Influenster.  Here is the video:

You have the choice to learn almost any language such as Spanish, French, German, Russian and many other languages.  Dino Lingo consist of language learning programs for kids.  Kids of all ages will enjoy this wonderful program.  I do not think that you can be too young or too old to learn from this program.  It is very catchy and the characters are very cute.  They definitely appeal to young children.  The repetitiveness of the words and phrases are key to this program.  My son and I really enjoyed the clip and look forward to learning more from this language learning program for kids.  If you are interested in finding out more about this program, then please visit the Dino Lingo website for further information. 



NEW Influenster Website launched!!!

Influenster has just launched it's new website.  Yippee!!  Yahoooo!!  There has been a lot of anticipation and excitement for the launch of a new page.  This new page is supposed to be bigger and better!  From what I can tell, it is going to be awesome!  The main problem right now though is the fact that there are "bugs" in the system that they are trying to correct.  So, yesterday, there were a lot of concerns on the Influenster Facebook page.  A lot of people could not get from page to page without getting an error page, but as of this morning (9/28/12), it looks as though most of us can login, navigate from page to page, and unlock badges!  Unlocking badges and other tasks is how you gain more "influence" to other trendsetters that are part of the program and increase your Influenster score (the score is a  new concept introduced on the new site).  I think that the scoring is a good thing because you can see how you compare to other Influensters.  So many people are always asking what they can do to get a VoxBox, and now, I guess they can complete tasks on the new site and increase their score!  That would be at least one suggestion if you feel that you are being over looked for VoxBoxes.  The new site also has a lot more activities to participate in, and I personally cannot wait until I can jump in and really make my mark.  Ever since I have been part of this program, I have thoroughly enjoyed it!  I've participated in two VoxBoxes so far, and I look forward to participating in many many more!

My Mom VoxBox Ivory Brand Challenge Prize

 

 

Well, I was online last night, and I kept seeing all kinds of people posting on the Influenster Facebook page that they received their Mom VoxBox Ivory Brand Challenge Prize.  Leave it to me to not check my mail when I came home from work.  As I sat at the computer at 11:30 pm, I just had to go out to the mailbox down the street (our neighborhood has one of those mail stations) to see if I got mine, as well.  Luckily, when I got to the mailbox, I had a key for one of the package boxes.  I had been waiting for this prize that was awarded for being chosen as one of the Ivory Brand Challenge winners!  Thank you so much to Influenster and Ivory!  I can't wait until I get my next Brand Challenge Prize! 

 

I swear by Influenster and tell everyone about it!  If you do not know about Influenster, then please go to their website at www.influenster.com or to the Influenster Facebook page. Influenster is a company that puts together VoxBoxes containing certain products that need to be tested and reviewed by certain demographics.  These demographics are determined by the companies that provide the products.  You qualify for the VoxBoxes by your answers to many questions from surveys that you do on the website to release badges.  There a numerous badges that you can release such as the blogger badge, twitter badge, university badge, bride-to-be badge, dog lover badge, cat lover badge, promoter badge, etc.  Depending on your answers to these surveys, you can be chosen for a VoxBox if you meet the qualifications set.  You also have to be active in social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Vlogs and/or Blogs.  Once the VoxBox is coming to a close, you get the opportunity to participate in Brand Challenges for each product that came in the particular VoxBox.  In order to win a Brand Challenge prize and to earn that product badge, you are required to complete certain challenges (tasks).  Examples of these challenges are either to post a video/Vlog or write a blog entry about the product,  post pictures of the product on social media, make a post on social media mentioning the product, etc.  You do not have to complete the Brand Challenges to stay in good standing with Influenster, but why wouldn't you want to participate and potentially get even more free products!  I have received two VoxBoxes so far.  They are the Mom VoxBox and the Latina VoxBox.  

 

Ivory soap was one of the items in the Mom VoxBox. Ivory is free of dyes and heavy perfumes.  Ivory provides a simple, yet effective clean for the entire family all at a reasonable price.  I absolutely love Ivory soap. It is great for sensitive skin! I recommend it to everyone! You can also use it for other things such as laundry and soap carvings! The Brand Challenge prize consisted of a pack of 10 Ivory Soap bars and a bottle of the Ivory Body Wash!

I received the Always Radiant Infinity Pads in the Latina 2012 VoxBox that was sent to me by Influenster (www.Influenster.com). The product was complimentary to test and review. The product information information/review page on the Influenster website states that Always Radiant Infinity pads feature a unique technology that conforms to each individual shape, delivering premium protection. Always Radiant Infinity pads are part of the Radiant Collection, a new complete offering of premium tampons, pads, liners and wipes that meets all of a woman’s feminine care needs. The new Collection stands out on shelves and features packaging and wrappers that compliment any girl’s unique style, making these products must-have accessories any time of the month.

I was able to try the Always Radiant Infinity pads during this testing period.  The first thing I noticed was that these pads was that they had a light fresh scent.  I have never worn scented pads.  It was different, but it did make me feel a bit more fresh.  I also noticed that these pads are really thin and absorbant.  Normally, I would buy another brand that I have used for years and years, but I was willing to test this new product out.  During the time I tested these pads, I could almost just forget about what time of the month it was.  No leaks occurred.  They stayed in place even though I live an active lifestyle.  Compared to some other brands, these did a better job of absorbing and protecting my clothes from leaks.  Maybe, it has to do with the new technology that has gone into making these pads.  The unique material called Incinicel forms to your body while still absorbing up to 60% more liquid as stated on the Always website. The wider back and flexible wings provides increased coverage wher you need it the most according to the product description, and I would have to agree.  I really liked the way that these pads performed while doing the everyday activities that I would normally do. These pads definitley conform and move with your body.  I would also like to mention that the packaging for these new pads is very eye catching and pretty.  They definitely caught my eye.  Since these Always Radiant Infinity pads performed so well, I will definitely be buything them and using them in the future.  I will also recommend them to my friends and family.  Hopefully, they will have the positive experience that I did.

As part of the testing for the Radiant Collection, I also received the Always & Tampax Radiant Collection (sampler) in the Latina 2012 VoxBox that was sent to me by Influenster (www.Influenster.com). The products in the sampler were complimentary to test and review. Since I shared this with my friend, I did not test the tampons myself, but needless to say, my friend was extremely happy with the results of the new Tampax Radiant tampons.  She really liked the idea of a resealable wrapper.  According to her, these tampons did their job and provided her with the necessary protection.  She did not experience any problems and mentioned that they were comfortable no matter what day of her period it was.  She said that she would recommend them to others and will purchase them in the future.  There was also a really cute wristlet that came in the sampler to store the tampons, panty liners and pads.  All of these products could be easily and discretely be stored in the wristlet. I liked this sampler so much that I had to get my hands on another one for myself.

I received the Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Lotion Sunscreen in the Latina 2012 VoxBox that was sent to me by Influenster (www.Influenster.com). The product was complimentary to test and review. This product is very easy to use and is inexpensive. The product information/review page on the Influenster website states that the sunscreen is available in SPF 12, 30 and 50.  I received it in SPF 30.  the product review page also says that with its ultra-luxurious hydrating silk ribbons, Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration™ lotion sunscreen nourishes and pampers skin while providing broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection, and 12-hour moisturization when out in the sun. The label on the bottle says that it has a light, tropical scent and it is marketed to be water resistant for up to 80 minutes. 

The Hawaiian Tropic website states several features and benefits of this new Silk Hydration Lotion Sunscreen.  They are as follows:

•  Lightweight, luxurious hydrating ribbons infused with silk protein pamperand protect skin when in the sun, providing 12-hour moisturization
• Safe and effective broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection
• Nourishing antioxidants
• Exotic botanicals
• Warm tropical fragrance

I used this sunscreen lotion several times already with great results.  My family enjoys being out in the sun whether it is out at the lake or in the swimming pool so this was the perfect product for me to test.  The lotion is not runny like some other brands.  I found it to be light, but it held up for most of the day.  My husband and my son tend to get burned when out in the sun without sunscreen, but using this product prevented that from happening.  The product has a kind of tropical/sweet smell, and I really enjoyed the scent.  I thought it was quite pleasant.  Some men/boys may find it to be a little on the feminine side, but my guys thought it smelled just fine.  This lotion suncreen is also very moisturizing.  On a couple of days, I used this as my lotion when I got out of the shower just to test it moisturizing ability and the scent.  The results of the test were great!  It went on easily and left my skin smooth.  I will be recommending this to all of my friends and family.  My immediate family has already purchased full sized bottles.

Ok, enough of all of the formal descriptions.  I just want to let it be known that I am a Bath and Body Works Junkie!  I'm addicted to the place.  I love their body care and their home fragrance selections.  So, you can only imagine the joy and excitement that I felt when I opened up the Latina VoxBox for the first time!  I was elated!  I have used the old version of the shower gel, so I was able to make a comparison between the old and the new Shea Enriched version.  Let me tell you, the new one was much more bubbly, and the lather was awesome!  This new version literally makes me want to hop in the shower even when I really don't feel like it.  You don't have to use very much either to get that clean feeling.  It only takes about the size of a quarter.  Not only does it do a wonderful job of cleansing, it smells fantastic!  The scent fills the bathroom up for long after I'm finished showering.  This Shea Enriched shower gel does not leave a film or residue on your skin once you are out of the shower and dry!  The shower gel leaves your skin silky, smooth and soft!  I can't say enough great things about this product.  I just want to thank Bath and Body Works and Influenster for giving me the chance to review such a great product from a company that I already LOVE!  The pricing for this product is perfect especially since you can really get a lot of bang for your buck with coupons, receipt surveys for $10 off of $30 purchase and all of the ongoing sales.  I definitely recommend this new Shea Enriched Shower Gel to my family and friends.  I recommend all of the products at Bath and Body Works!

I received the VEET® Ready-to-Use Wax Strips for Legs & Body in the 2012 Latina VoxBox that was sent to me by Influenster (www.Influenster.com) earlier in August.  The product was complimentary to test and review.  The product information/review page on the Influenster website states the following about the wax strips:   The strips are specially formulated to remove hair on legs, underarms and bikini area from closer to the root than shaving for smoothness that lasts up to 4 weeks. 

This is the product description from the Veet website:  VEET® introduces wax strips with HairCoating Technology for perfect results that last. VEET® has specially formulated these wax strips to act like a liquid during application, coating different lengths of hair, even those as short as 2mm. When you remove the strip, the wax locks the hair – for effective hair removal. Suitable for use on your legs, underarm and bikini area. VEET® can give you perfectly smooth skin for weeks longer than shaving.

The wax strips are really easy use and there is virtually no preparation time. You just have to have the time to warm the wax by rubbing it in between both hands (kinda like in the original Karate Kid when Mr. Miyagi rubs his hands together when preparing to heal Daniels leg at the final tournament...ok, I'm dating myself now) and the time to apply it. 

Steps involved in using properly:
1.)  You just have to warm the wax by rubbing it between your hands for about 5 seconds
2.)  Peal the two sides of the strip apart in preparation to apply to area
3.)  Apply to the legs, underarms or bikini area in the direction of hair growth. 
4.)  You then pull if off in one fast motion. 
5.)  After waxing, remove any excess wax with the Perfect Finish Wipe that is provided. 

The package includes 40 full size wax strips and 6 finishing wipes.

I personally found these wax strips to be very effective.  My skin can be sensitive, but they did not irritate my skin enough to keep me from using again.  There was some redness, but it went away quickly.  I would suggest that if you have super sensitive skin, then you may want to test it on a small area of your skin first.  They are so super easy to use and do not take up a lot of your time.  The packaging was easy to handle.  Pricing is right on with what I think a in-home wax product of this caliber should cost.  I definitely will recommend to my family and friends.

I received the imPress Press-On Manicure by Broadway Nails in the Mom VoxBox that was sent to me by Influenster (www.Influenster.com).  The product was complimentary to test and review.  This product is very easy to use and is inexpensive.  The Press-On Manicure comes in 36 colors and patters to include popular animal prints!  This is marketed to last up to a week.  It lasted about 5 days for me.  They are really easy to apply.  You just have to peel off , press on and you are ready to go!  You get a quick salon like manicure with polish that doesn't need to dry!  The package includes 24 nail covers.

To apply:
- Find the correct size for each nail
- Lay out 10 nails in finger order
- Cleanse natural nail with enclosed prep pad
- Firmly apply nails (Thumb nails last)

To remove:
- Gently peel off from sides or apply polish remover around edges (wait 1 minute and remove)

I received an Ivory bar soap in the Mom VoxBox given to product reviewers by Influenster. This product was complimentary for testing and review purposes from Influenster. Ivory is free of dyes and heavy perfumes, Ivory provides a simple, yet effective clean for the entire family all at a reasonable price. This bar soap is 99.44% pure. I used it personally to wash my face. It is perfect for those of us that have sensitive skin. It does not dry your skin out at all and leaves your skin very soft. The results for me were wonderful. My face was in much better condition and clearer after using it for over a week. There are also many other uses for this product. A lot of people use in for laundry and stain removal. To use in the laundry, all you have to do is shave the soap into flakes and add them to the laundry. You can use it to remove stains by rubbing it into the stain and then throw it in the wash. You will be amazed by the results. Another way to use the bar of soap is for carving. You can have a fun project day with your family by carving the bar of Ivory soap.

Review of Quaker Soft Baked Oatmeal Cookies

I received the Mom VoxBox from Influenster this past month. I throughly enjoyed each product that was included in the box. The first item I would like to review is the Quaker Soft Baked Oatmel Cookie. I received this product complimentary for testing and review purposes from Influenster. My son is the one that tested this product and was so kind as to give me a bite! : ) I really enjoyed it. It tasted better than most soft baked cookies that I have tried in the past. My son really liked it a lot. He said that we needed to go out and buy a big box of them. He is 13 and I’d imagine he would want to eat the whole box of them. Here is some information on the cookies:
